  1. So, I'm curious about meditation and mindfulness, and I've seen a lot of ads on Instagram for all these meditation and mindfulness apps. Does anyone have experience from using an app for meditation? And can you recommend me your faves (preferably free apps because I'm cheap like that) ? And do mindfulness apps really work? Thank you!
  2. Hey it's my first post. I'm Vince I'm in the San Francisco bay, but getting kinda far out of the city. I've been using apps like crazy to make friends and they're pretty much helping. Just wondering how you guys would suggest making local friends -- ways to strike up conversation at coffee shops, networking apps, a good place I can go earlier in the day to meet young people, I will take anything! Thanks everyone.
  3. Hello! I am also new. What helped me with meditation is I started with guided meditations. You can download apps like BetterMe Mental Health and you can even go to YouTube and find great channels for guided meditation there. The Honest Guys are a good channel for this. As you do more guided meditations, you will have less difficulty meditating on your own. I hope this helps! Welcome to the community and have a great day! David
  4. I am on holiday with my boyfriend of 5 years. We have both put weight on and he keeps standing infront of the full length mirror saying how fat he is, look at his belly etc. (He hasn't got a full length mirror so said he didn't realise he was that big, but we both know there's no problems with attraction to each other) We came back from the pool and took our swimwear off. He sat on the bed naked, in front of the mirror and i took the first shower. While I was in the shower he took a photo of himself in the mirror and sent it to me. The photo was unflattering and in the position he would normally sit on the bed so at first I thought it was probably him making a joke out of the mirror but Because he doesn't normally send photos like that I was worried it was meant for someone else. I asked him why he sent it and he laughed and said 'have you seen how fat I am?' Then I asked if it was meant for me and he said 'yeah course it is'. He didn't seem phased or uncomfortable in his response. We argued about it and he said it was meant be a funny joke (we both joke at ourselves a lot and the mirror had been a focal point this holiday) he can't believe I'd think it was for another woman and sees it as a totally innocent joke that I'm over reacting too. He let me look at his texts, apps, contacts etc and there is nothing there to indicate cheating, and nothing else in our relationship to indicate cheating. I think a potential trigger is my ex cheating on me- once he sent me a nude (when he didn't normally) and talked his way out of it- I later found it was sent to multiple women. So now I'm worried my current boyfriend accidentally sent me a photo meant for another woman. But I can also see that there could be a valid innocent explanation now, as the context is OK (standing infront of mirror laughing at fat belly and he had valid reason be naked, plus the photo was unflattering) and his reaction when I asked him was totally relaxed and normal. Am I blowing this out of proportion and making a problem that isn't there?
  5. Hello, Reinhard! What free meditation app are you using? I use Sadhguru app and its free. I don't know a lot of free meditation apps, usually paid.
  6. Being single is nothing negative. And a lot of people on dating apps are looking for a relationship because they think they would have to be in one because of their age or to make them complete. But that's totally wrong. Love is not plannable. I would advise him to do what he likes to do with other people and when he gets to know someone nice, he can try and date that person.

  8. Mental Health is extremely important to every human being. We do not live in a perfect world, and being able to cope with the stress of everyday life is tough. However, there are plenty of ways to take care of your mind and body. Mental health is something that we're often too uncomfortable to talk about, but it's a topic we need to discuss. Most people who suffer from mental health issues go through periods of depression and anxiety where they feel immobilized by their condition. As a result, they may feel that they are incapable of doing the things they usually love or used to be good at. Mental health problems can also cause people to withdraw from the world around them, which can, in turn, lead to loneliness and feelings of isolation. There are so many therapy centers even now there are online apps like The RoyalVibe Health app that allow you to track your mental health privately and securely, so you can focus on getting the help you need.
  9. Hello Friends, Since it is the new year and a time that many people choose to refine and change their life goals, I would like to recommend to you some ideas and tools related to mind mapping. I am very much a visual thinker, but also I am very detail oriented. I have a hard time in my head of translating the fine details or the small goals into the bigger picture of where I am going. For me, this makes a very difficult and sometimes confused bog of too many ideas for me to sort out. I also tend to be a little hypomanic in my idea creation, so you can only imagine maybe the inspired ideas that I have which are fractured by scattered energy if I cannot put myself on a course of solid direction and keep finding my way back to that path. A mind map is a way of connecting ideas. It's a great way to brainstorm or turn the seed of an idea into a plan. It's a wonderful tool for writers to organize stories. Mind maps can be tools of collaboration for managers and creative business people. Here are a few examples of companies that offer websites and or apps. But there are dozens of free and paid apps for this purpose. A good example of a career which uses mind maps is the film industry and it's usage of story boards. A mind map can be as simple as cut out pictures or text from a magazine used to create a vision board which is a very specific kind of mind map, or very intricate ones with multiple levels such as those that organize the plot of a novel. Many of the websites and apps offer free templates if it is hard for you to get started. Here is an example (see pic below) which is a life plan template I made on the website mindmeister. But they can be a simple list of goals with or without pictures. I take the plan I have created each year and revise it. I am sure to mark for my own satisfaction things which I have completed. What I have found is that when you are stuck in a rut of feeling like you are going nowhere, that just having short, medium, and long ranged (even crazy unrealistic long range) plans acts like ”The Power of Positive Thinking” or a subconscious influence on our direction.
  10. I am worried about so many minor issues! Like what phone apps I should get. I need to move on. I am also putting little effort into having a love life, and it makes me happy I don't care anymore.
  11. I haven't tried learning a foreign language myself, but I heard there are a few different apps that might be useful. I'm sure there are also teachers offering online courses now that there might be restrictions about meeting in person, so that could also be worth looking into! ?
  12. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling unhappy and lonely, those are feelings that can easily overwhelm and take over so it's a great thing that you're reaching out for support and advice. I agree with Tati that it's important to try and find happiness in yourself; to come to the understanding that you can make yourself happy rather than relying on others for happiness. If you feel like you messed something up with this person you mention, perhaps try to talk to them and explain your feelings and apologise if you did something wrong. Whether they accept or not, it might give you peace of mind to have shared how you feel. It's been a difficult year that has left many of us feeling lonely and anxious, and due to different stages of restriction it might be hard to socialise with others at this time. Joining our little community is a great thing, but perhaps you can also look into joining (online) classes of some sort? Whether it's yoga, live workouts, a book circle - there are tones of niche communities that have emerged just because people are restricted from going out and meeting in person. Focus on yourself, your wellbeing, and what makes you happy. Take a long walk, do some kind of exercise that you enjoy, bake or cook something delicious, watch a series/movie/documentary that you like, etc. If you never tried it, perhaps give yoga or meditation a chance - it could be a great way to start. There are lots of free yoga classes on YouTube (I like Yoga with Adrienne) and many meditation apps where you can try it out. You can also have look in our Academy for some free resources that you might find interesting! ?
  13. I use YouTube a lot, but my Apple Music subscription also lets me play anything released when it’s active. I haven’t used many apps tbh.
  14. I listen to an app called soundheal it has a range of frequencies that help you in some way or for I play this app next to the water I am going to drink for the day I also listen to the app throughout the. day I tend to listen to each frequency for 21 minutes. There's other apps too
  15. Hello everyone, I’m trying not to be online too much and websites without apps end up being last to be seen. I wish there was an app! Thanks for saying hi ?
  16. I found making meditation the first and last things I do in a day worked for establishing a routine for me. As soon as I wake in the morning I have a glass of water and then meditate and the last thing I do before sleeping is meditate. If you’re new to meditation you may find using a guided meditation helpful (I personally like Davidji’s but there are lots of free ones available on YouTube or via various apps) I hope this is helpful to you Namaste
  17. I have tried many different apps - headspace however I didn't try... So far I am stuck with insight timer. They have some stuff by my favourite teachers but most importantly I can find something matching the topic of the day and it's free to use. I also enjoy the timer. As Tara Brach is one of my favourite teachers I simply use her podcast where she publishes guided meditations as well as insightful talks regularly and for free.
