Draft for review · Updated 30 October 2026. Production launch and legal review are pending.

Legal & privacy

Privacy notice

This draft describes the current website implementation. It needs the operational details identified below before production launch.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any information you choose to include. We use these to answer your enquiry. Depending on the enquiry, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to project correspondence or steps taken at your request before entering a contract. We do not add you to a marketing list simply because you contact us.

To confirm before launch: the email provider, who can access enquiries, the retention period and arrangements for processing or accessing data outside the EEA.

Website delivery

The hosting service processes connection information, such as IP addresses and requests for website files, to deliver and secure the website. Video and illustrations are served as website files; the page does not embed a YouTube player.

To confirm before launch: the production hosting provider, security log retention, processing locations and contractual safeguards.

Optional analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-SEL0J3WJSF, to understand visits and interactions with the village story. This can include browser and device information, approximate location, acquisition information, pages visited and selected interactions. Analytics is disabled on preview domains.

The Google tag loads only after you accept analytics. Rejecting analytics does not affect access to the website. Advertising consent stays denied, and the implementation disables Google Signals and advertising personalisation. We send fixed interaction labels rather than email addresses, message content or arbitrary URL parameters. Analytics is not anonymous merely because we do not send your name.

Google processes analytics data under its applicable service terms. Processing may involve countries outside the EEA. See Google’s privacy policy and Google’s data processing terms.

To confirm before launch: the contracting Google entity, applicable transfer safeguards, GA4 retention settings and disabling automatic measurements that could collect additional URL or interaction data. The proposed event data retention is two months, subject to confirmation in the GA4 account.

Your choices and rights

You can change or withdraw analytics consent using Change analytics consent below. Withdrawal applies to future collection and does not undo earlier lawful processing. Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email philip@happiness.com to exercise these rights.

You can complain to your competent data protection authority. In Spain, this is the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

To confirm before launch: whether the Hong Kong operator must appoint an EU representative and the representative’s details if required. No representative appointment or international transfer arrangement is asserted by this draft.

Circle and external links

The community link is not connected in this preview. Once connected, Circle will be a separate service with its own privacy information. We may measure a click to Circle after analytics consent; a click does not establish that you joined.

Cookies and analytics

You can explore the website without accepting analytics. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after acceptance on happiness.com, www.happiness.com or happiness.org. It remains disabled on preview domains even if you accept.

What we store

What we measure

Visits, selected website sections, village places opened, timeline years selected, FAQ questions opened and email link clicks. When the Circle link is connected, its outbound clicks can be measured. We do not infer completed Circle registrations from those clicks.

Changing your choice

Use Change analytics consent below to accept or reject analytics. Rejecting it stops further analytics collection by this implementation and removes Google Analytics cookies on the current website that it can access. It does not delete information already collected by Google. Clearing your browser storage also removes the remembered choice.

Other services

Following an external link opens another organisation’s website, which may use its own cookies. This page does not load Google Analytics before consent. For operator details, data processing and your rights, read our Privacy notice.
