Moderator Popular Post Candy Posted November 13, 2019 Moderator Popular Post Posted November 13, 2019 I've been seeing and hearing the term "conscious living" wherever I turn lately, but what does it really mean? Is it the same as mindful living? Is it the truth of being human? Does it mean waking up to our full potential and being aware of everything we consume with our energy and senses, and the effect that has on us? Or does it refer to "hippie" stuff like hugging trees and living in forests eating only what we salvage from the land? ? I think living consciously refers to many aspects of our daily lives that we can become more mindful of and educate ourselves on. Many books and articles communicate that when one lives a conscious life, we're more likely to be living a life of joy and happiness. I read a great article by Vishnu that shares ways in which we can all start living more consciously and I found it to be super inspiring and a great starting point for adopting conscious practices into my daily life. Here are the main points to focus on: Ask yourself what you want. Do what makes you happy. Live in alignment with your truth. Accept yourself for who you are. Do work that's in tune with your being. Ignore society's demands and 'guidance'. Spend wisely. Walk with courage. Say "no" more. Be picky. Go within. Let go. Treasure the moment. Practice daily acts of forgiveness. Focus on what you have. Give freely. Practice compassion. Capture the silence. Be observant of the ego. Be mindful of your words. Wash away anger with love. What does conscious living mean to you, and how do you practice it in your everyday life? Does anyone have tips to share for those who are new to it? Thank you.
Members Popular Post vind111 Posted November 14, 2019 Members Popular Post Posted November 14, 2019 Hi, Allow me to relate to this through what I have experienced rather than what I have understood or read. Consciousness is actually a state of mind which is extremely still and relaxed. It is so different to the thinking mind. Actually when you say consciousness you can't even call it as part of the mind. It is that free from thoughts, endless thoughts that come to our mind without any control. When you are conscious, and living in the consciousness you can think, you can plan, you can study, you can do all these things but the difference is you have a control of what you want to think and what not. The extreme beauty is this control you have is effortless. It is not something you have to think and do when you are properly tuned to this deep state. We must find a teacher who can guide us to this state as an experience, not as a mere understanding. Then one will know it by experience the calmness and consciousness I am talking about. One will know true happiness and may even know what is beyond the body mind. There are such teachers, extremely rare I would say but there is. And at "Nisala International Meditation Centre" I have found such a capable unique teacher. I am actually trying to introduce this teacher to the mass community around the world as I can. You can read more at http://nisala.org/ and also participate to experience this at our events. http://nisala.org/events/ Thank you.
