  1. I've read the book The Secret a while back, and I was just curious to see if anyone else has read it? What were your thoughts? And whether you've read it or not, do you believe in the law of attraction; that you can change the direction of your life with your thoughts? Do you believe that you can make something appear or happen just by thinking it?
  2. I've been curious about seeing a therapist as so many of my friends do and say it's absolutely life-changing. So I've heard that there are lots of therapists that offer their services via Skype etc., has anyone had any experience with that? Or any other advice on how to find a good therapist online (or offline!) and generally things to take into consideration. I feel like everyone could benefit from seeing a therapist, but also a bit lost as to where I start. Any tips or experiences would be appreciated!
  3. Technically, every day is self-care day, but if you live a busy life, that's not always possible and we forget to take time for ourselves which often leads to stress, exhaustion and tension in the body. I've started doing something called self-care Sundays where every Sunday afternoon I take 2-4 hours completely for myself to do slow down, replenish my energy, and do something I love that makes me feel energised and relaxed. This includes either all or some of the following: Take a guilt-free nap Journal for at least 15 minutes Yoga or body stretches Hair mask Face mask Long bath with sea salts and dried flowers Eat a healthy dinner Read a few pages of my favourite book What are some of the things you do to unwind and reconnect with yourself?
  4. This is so true - there's no 1 way fits all road to health but it's a personal and continuous exploration of what works for you in certain times of your life. I had to question everything I knew about my mind and body once the menopause started.
  5. I read this article and it really resonates with me! I think it's soooo true that happiness is something we have to choose and 'create' for ourselves rather than waiting for external factors to 'make us happy'. One of the things mentioned is how happiness is linked to gratitude, and I think that can be so helpful. When life feels shitty, focusing on the positive things in your life can really help with your mindset. It can be really hard on certain days, but if you practice regularly, it will get easier to find positive things to be grateful for. I've heard that it's a great way to start the day. Before even getting out of bed think of 3 things that you are grateful for, and you're supposed to start the day already with a more positive feeling. What are your thoughts on choosing happiness and focusing on gratitude?
  6. I'm a big fan of recycling and have kind of started a personal war against plastic - it is honestly crazy how much plastic is accumulated from food packaging! I would love to get your best tips on reducing plastic in your day-to-day life as well as any tips on how you manage your recyclables at home. Thanks!
  7. I would say yes and here is why: The most influential course I took was "the science of happiness" about which I wrote an article for the Happiness Magazine a few years ago when happiness.com was just a little blog. Since then many things changed (for the better), and I think it is fair to attribute a big chunk of it to this course because it convinced me to start with meditation. I then did an MBSR (meditation-based stress reduction) course, and a few years later I am a certified meditation and MBSR teacher. What is your favourite course and why? How did it influence your life?
  8. Hey Stacia, Totally agree. Whenever I'm having a rubbish day or on a downer about my life, I try to stop and think how lucky I actually am and that so many millions of people are probably having things way tougher than I am! This normally gives me a bit of a reality check and then I get on my with my day, safe in the knowledge that, actually, I'm doing OK ?? I'm grateful for many things, but mainly stuff like: nice friends having family a great work/play balance being able to go swimming in the sea! freedom in my sexual life and to be LGBT with no risk of persecution having the chance to be creative all the simple (and free) things, really! What's on your list?
  9. We all have ups and downs, and sometimes it can be really difficult to see the rainbow on the other side. Maybe life keeps throwing your lemons, maybe you're not feeling very well, or maybe it's just the every day stresses of life! For me personally, I find it very helpful to think of 10 Things I'm grateful for. What are some things you're grateful for?
