  1. I also have a small circle, and many of my friends live in other countries which makes it hard to meet or keep up with everything. I definitely think it's important to have friends in your life, but it's not the number that counts. Quality over quantity 💫 I honestly don't know how to make friends lol normally it has happened via friends in common, so thank god for my extroverted amigas! 😅
  2. One of the values from meditation is to train your brain so you can control these thoughts, rather than them controlling you. Through meditation you realize that thoughts are a constant stream. No matter how hard one tries, you will always have thoughts. I have found, through meditation, that rather then trying to avoid thoughts, I can recognize it for what it is (a thought in my mind, not based on reality) and it fads. I’d encourage anyone struggling with “monkey mind” to look into meditation. It takes practice (like everything in life).
  3. Well, just a reason more to learn spanish, I would say ☺️?. I'm sure we find a solution here, maybe find some spanish speaking volunteers who can help out within the community. I would love if the community would start to be a place for language tandems in english/spanish, spanish/german or english/german, where people can talk about their struggles, experiences and personal way of life while learning a language better. That way it would add an even more interesting twist to it. I'm up for a spanish tandem, if someone is interested !
  4. I love the idea of JOMO! Celebrating what we are supposedly missing! I think one that helps with living a more simple life is that humans are naturally very adaptable to our circumstances. When I moved to a quieter place after London I thought I would miss stuff, but actually no. Now I can't bear to go back there! Interesting how this changes with time and noticing it in the body and mind.
  5. One of the main takeaways for me is that conscious community means that the people I spoke to are conscious about how they use their time and be here now often means to favor real-life interactions over those online. If it is online it needs to be worth it. Another time-consuming site just won't cut it. I feel it for myself if I have fallen into the "facebook-trap" and afterward feel how it has eaten up my attention, sold it for advertising money and I have only lost time to otherwise be alive. What does this mean for happiness.com? For me, it means that if people log in to make it worth their time and attention. Yes, we need a call to action, we need to motivate people to commit and engage and at the same time we need to make sure we respect their time, that if they invest time and attention it's worth it, that there's a real connection, vulnerability, support not just some scrolling through updates.
  6. What a great question!! My morning routine is giving my thanks! I silently say 'thank you' for having been given another day on Earth, for waking up in good health, (even if I wish I stayed un bed longer)! It might sounds a little cheesy but since I unfortunately lost both of my parents when I was young, I have learnt through the years to be grateful, every mornings, I am lucky to enjoy the good, the bad and the ugly of this life!
  7. I like to start my day with a brief gratitude exercise and this motivates me throughout the day. For five minutes, I sit in silence with eyes closed. I start by first feeling acceptance for my present reality, no matter how good or bad it is, and slowly begin to think how worse everything could get as I am not entitled to anything. For 2 minutes I appreciate and give thanks to the Source that is responsible for supporting life every moment. And in the last minute, I thank the Source for a particular blessing, benefit I received a day before (for instance, salary coming in the bank, or paying off utility bills, or eating out etc). Ever since I came to realise that happiness is actually an effect, not cause, I have been passionately and actively trying to nurture gratitude. Happiness does not have power to create more happiness as it is just an effect or spent force that we spend in sensual pleasure. The result of indulging in happiness is distress because happiness is not a cause (seed). While gratitude or appreciation is the seed that creates happiness. Have you experienced this phenomena? Would love to know your views on this.
  8. interesting question. I think it's both. Good luck and a choice. For example I live in Barcelona because it was my own choice, yes. I did it because I followed an inner voice even my parents were against it. But I admit that I had also good luck in my life. Just the fact that I was born healthy is good luck and a lot of lucky circumstances happend afterwards.
  9. This is so true - there's no 1 way fits all road to health but it's a personal and continuous exploration of what works for you in certain times of your life. I had to question everything I knew about my mind and body once the menopause started.
