  1. I loved the book that was used with my MBSR course, Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn and found it helpful. I have been studying soul traits using a couple of books for quite some time. The books we used were Every day holiness by Alan Morinis and Mussar yoga by Edith Brotman and Alan Morinis. Studying the traits has definitely changed my life. Each trait (patience, humility, equanimity and more), are practiced for a month with a group of participants who journal, practice, etc. between meetings. During the pandemic I completed beginner's yoga (230 hours) and now am in 300 hour training. Yoga is amazing tool. I am certified in meditation and various types of yoga. I'm a life long learner and curiosity breeds happiness for me.
  2. Hello, you might like to try the happiness Academy MBSR course? It's free and gives a great introduction to meditation and mindfulness ?
  3. I totally agree with you Tine, awareness is very important.....even the women we know closely won’t open about it and that’s where the problem arise...it’s tough and also our healthcare people sometimes just put it all on stress or its normal kinda thing...this needs to change and we all need to learn on how to communicate about it strongly... And you are absolutely right our kids needs to know so it doesn’t remain a taboo anymore.. Coming back to MBSR it very strong subject itself and if we incorporate it with Menopause then it has the capacity to change first us as a women to feel strong about this topic so we can come up and discuss ...thank you Tine so much for moving this conversation forward it’s much appreciated cause this is the topic which is hurting so many lives in so many different ways...it can’t be described.... kind regards Jo
  4. Hi Tine, thanks for your interest, ya I can go on and on for this topic ...it is interesting that how during pregnancy people notice our emotions and go overboard on giving us idea and all but when it come to menopause no one kind of give shit about it...the one sentence we always hear is hay we went through same but nothing happened, or what’s big deal about it...even the bigger symptoms goes unnoticed ...the reality is no one knows what it is...to go through it when symptoms are just killing you ...yet you can’t explain what’s going on cause nothing is seen... from outside you just look fine smiling and doing work, hiding everything inside feelings ...emotions cause you don’t want to get the label of drama queen...who just cry for every single thing ...also its hard to explain no-one wants to give time for it ... But let me tell menopause is serious, very hurting and painful not just physically but much more mentally...it can rock your world completely.... In my case I was having symptoms which I didn’t new even existed and related to menopause until I completely paused and came back normal but for past 3 years its rocking me from all directions...was having symptoms like electric shocks which I came to know now is one of the symptom but when it first happened I was worried not knowing how to even explain to anyone what is happening....I thought mu body was taken over by someone ..and it was just the starting taken over by anxiety and so on ... Recently while doing MBSR I was thinking if it could be explained in some videos on how we can incorporate it with Menopause and heal not just the person who is suffering but also educate the people around them ... Sorry its long reply but it’s really taking life’s away....so its close to my heart...cause I am still misunderstood for what happened with me cause of Menopause... Kind regards
  5. How can we incorporate the practices of MBSR in menopausal women who are suffering but not seen?

  16. As we have many MBSR students all around the world, I was wondering which time and day would work best for most people to participate in the guided online mindfulness meditations and Q&A sessions. Please check all the days and times that would work for you. The time is CET - Central European time - as that's where I live. So please change your prefered time to CET, and I hope there are some time slots covered. Guiding a meditation online at 4 in the morning is theoretically possible, but I hope you understand that I'd rather not offer that. ?
  17. @ias206 Tara Brach has many guided mediations and also talks freely available on her site: https://www.tarabrach.com/guided-meditation-basic-meditations/ which work well with the MBSR course. Please let us know which one you enjoy the most in the resources overview. ?
  18. @Danica2020 Thank you for adding that. I haven't looked deeper into it yet, but it already resonates. One of the most hands-on (or hands-off for that matter) learnings through MBSR for me was related to eating. Listening to my own needs and not mistaking the need for a break for hunger as I used to, not mistaking thirst for hunger. Not mistaking the need for self-care for hunger, not trying to ease stress through eating. As the amount of food I consumed did shrink, I also got more conscious about what, when and how much I eat to be fully satisfied. I'll take a closer look into intuitive eating. :-)
  19. i have recently joined the MBSR course. in the week 1 it is been asked to practice body scan meditation. there are 5 body scan meditation given. am i supposed to do all or choose 1 which i feel is right

  21. Ive just completed week 2 MBSR and as always find the whole journey fascinating. Whether it is at this present time in my life that it is most needed? Even the science behind it all blows my mind away - I think what if I knew this when I was 20 (I am 50 in a few days) I totally get the more you practice the stronger you become and yes I do struggle still with thoughts in the beginning but find they eventually float pass me like clouds. I can relate to the post - Hi, I am on day 2 of week 2 and I am really struggling with the sit down meditation. I find my mind is wondering loads in the quiet parts of the meditation. With the body scan meditation my mind felt more focused on the words ?❤️
  22. Thank you for your replies ... I already feel the happiness think it is a great site. I have completed the first week of the 8 week MBSR and it has great content and videos. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of Mindfulness and hope to share it with others ?
  23. Hi, I am happy to have started the MBSR course and am very impressed so far. Looking forward to the next 8 weeks and beyond....
  24. Mindful yoga, meditation, and walking are powerful combinations. My wife loves it, and it is a yoga for everyone without the skimpy outfits - plain folk stretching and getting in touch with their body. I am really loving the MBSR class. Mike
