Barcelona Yoga Conference 2019 - Review
huma replied to Tine 's topic in Happiness & Life Advice Forum
I was there in the first 2 days and had a very good time. Seeing people's interest in happiness.com and getting to know many different people were so fulfilling. A session I attended was very interesting for me, NSR Self-Healing with Sebastian C.O. He showed Self Neuro Somatic Reprogramming techniques to reduce pain. I agree with Tine about the free stage. It was a great touch and was my favourite. Seeing people get carried away at one of the concerts was extremely heartwarming. I could feel the community connection there. Besides that, I also heard comments about the community bond from the people I talked to. It's very impressing that the event created such an international community! I'm newly becoming a "yoga person", meaning that I'm a total beginner both of yoga and it's culture. I've always had been into sports and attending tournaments and loved the rush of those environments. The yoga conference reminded me of those environments, but a more mindful version of them. I wasn't expecting to feel that the conference environment resonates with me this much. -
Listen to your inner voice.. If you want to reduce your stress, do things that make you happy. You can do yoga, exercise and eat a healthy diet. But apart from this, you can also mediate which will also make you feel calm and peaceful. Listening to some guided mediation can give you some relief. Sound healing mediation is also a great way to relieve stress and anxiety.

Which positive effects of yoga do you experience?
Yvonne replied to Yvonne 's topic in Happiness & Life Advice Forum
I'm a yoga addict and finally became yoga teacher. Yoga combines movements with your breathing and guides you to your inner self. I would recommend to start with a Sun salutation. It's a little sequence that gives you already good insights to work on it. You can just contact me when you hae any furthre questions. :) -
Hi everyone, I'm new to this so please bare with me lol. I recently just graduated from college with my bachelor's degree and I have been having a hard time finding a job. I've noticed that I wasn't my usual self and I felt like I should be doing more than what I am. So, I have started doing something that has really helped me improve and that is yoga and meditation. Something called Genie Script is what helped me with meditation because I had never done it before, but I can say it has helped me so much. I wanted to let others know what has helped me stay positive minded and happy. Here a link to Genie Script if anyone is interested. bit.ly/3sJ6uHQ

Yoga and strolling are basic exercises that many individuals appreciate. They are additionally great options in contrast to customary activity. Do not overlook them just because they are easy, or in light of the fact that you appreciate them. Assuming you do any of these delicate activities routinely, you will improve your overall health.

For me it's music and yoga. Music is indeed the best way to relieve stress, and for me, listening to playlists from youtube is the best way to cope with anxiety and so on. But it's hard to find the right video, but with services like mp3 juice, it's easy to get everything on your phone and listen to it. So I don't have any problems finding the right music and coping with stress that way, so I think you can try it as well.

Week 3 & 4 formal practice: Mindful Movement/ Yoga
mrperkins replied to Tine 's topic in The MBSR Course Forum
The body scan continues to be the hardest, but I am not going to abandon it. Meditation, and yoga come easier. As mentioned earlier I like the slow yoga, and find meditating outside at night under the stars the most productive. -
Week 3 & 4 formal practice: Mindful Movement/ Yoga
mrperkins replied to Tine 's topic in The MBSR Course Forum
Mindful yoga, meditation, and walking are powerful combinations. My wife loves it, and it is a yoga for everyone without the skimpy outfits - plain folk stretching and getting in touch with their body. I am really loving the MBSR class. Mike -
Week 3 & 4 formal practice: Mindful Movement/ Yoga
Temjen replied to Tine 's topic in The MBSR Course Forum
I'm in the 4 week now. I am able to notice some changes within me and I'm so happy and excited about it. Sometimes negative thoughts just comes in and it takes me to far bigger thoughts and let me grow weaker physically and mentally. Now that I'm able to accept things as it comes and just let it flow over or through me and let it go vanish. Doing the mindfulness Yoga for the last one week brought a relief to my body physical pain. Those pain I had on my right leg cuff muscle and the hip joint is considerable reduced and I'm feeling much at ease and pain-free. This mindfulness meditation and yoga had worked on me like a magic spell, it is such a powerful tool for my body physical and mental pain & stress. It is amazing! -

on the first day of yoga 1 I felt lazy to do on the floor so I did it in sitting position. on the third day, i did the yoga on the floor following the video. I felt so good about the body muscle stretches and the joint getting loose and free. i feel so flexible and so less risk of body injury during the day's work. The pain on my leg seem to be considerably reduced and this makes me feel good and happy. -
I just completed the first week and I'm reminded of how profoundly grateful I am to have this wisdom. I started my 12-year daily meditation practice in the vipassana tradition (MBSR has it's roots in this Buddhist lineage). However, I took a break from that method and focused on other approaches over the last few years because a tremendous amount of painful energy, sensations, and emotions were arising in practice and the traditional insight/mindfulness meditation, as it was taught to me, could not hold or help process my experience. After years of focusing on more somatic and experiential practices (mindful exercize, hatha and kundalini yoga, yoga nidra, visualization journeys, automatic writing, tapping, etc.) I'm delighted to dive back into my roots and re-approach mindfulness with a fresh perspective and more resilience. The body scan was a perfect way to start this course, as I primarily did body scans for years when I first began meditating. Perhaps my psyche was so disembodied and the mind so deafening that open awareness or simple breath meditation resulted in more stress, not less. This week reminded me of how body scans show me all the unconscious tension the body holds, even first thing in the morning I'm also noticing that body scans are a gentle and centering way to start the day, especially when the urge to tap on my gmail app to get the morning news seems so appropriate during this pandemic. While body scans are centering, I also notice a deep primal fear that if I relax all the way, something terrible is going to happen. Ugh! I've been meditating for over a decade and that belief is still so strong! So I always visualize comforting forces holding me. So, very grateful for this course and the people running it! Can't wait to dive into week 2.

Thanks Tine, the Pandemic fears talk of Tara Brach was a really good tip! I gathered some ideas for families, it can be challenging staying in lockdown with an active toddler. What we do to steam off some energy: Build activity parcours through the living room Watch children sports class for free on YouTube, like PE with Joe, who updates a new video every day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy1yab7jAcU Cosmic Kids Yoga offers Yoga sessions with different themes around popular characters like Frozen https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5uIZ2KOZZeQDQo_Gsi_qbQ Play hide and seek (and the parents take a lot of time to search and breath deeply ;)) I'm not a big fan of a lot of screen time for the littles ones, but there are some interesting offers that I find useful: At Arte you find Pippi Longstocking Opera: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/093005-000-A/pippi-langstrumpf-in-der-oper/ Zoos and Aquariums are doing little videos and showing their animals in little clips, for example the Zoo in Munich, GER or the Aquarium in Georgia, USA Museums can also be exciting for children: Why don't you let them choose one part of the exhibition to draw/draft/knead? Some museums that offer free online tours are here https://www.buzzfeed.com/andyneuenschwander/13-museums-you-can-visit-online-during-your-quarant I know there is much more out there, theatres, music classes, just have a go in the search engine. But as @Tine said, it all can, nothing must. I for my part don't have the feeling to have time for all these great offers. Or at least, only one every other day. Because with homeoffice, cooking, household chores and playing with the toys we would need real holidays to get into special crafting. So, just ideas, no pressure. But this week I don't know yet what we'll be doing: Any more ideas?

Week 3 & 4 formal practice: Mindful Movement/ Yoga
Udumbara replied to Tine 's topic in The MBSR Course Forum
Thanks for your reply. I totally understand about the power of nature. My practice of stopping this week is to say ‘itadakimasu before eating which is Japanese for receiving, but not just receiving a plate of food but to appreciate the life energy in it. Of the animal that has given its life for you to live if it is meat or the energy of nature that has gone into plant based food and also the energy of the person who prepared it. I usually go outside every morning to eat breakfast and when I’m in nature with the sun on my face, a breeze around me and listening to the birds chirping, it is so easy to stop and appreciate all of those things. I take one mouthful at a time, put my spoon down in between and don’t take the next spoonful until I’ve finished what’s in my mouth. This is relatively easy outside in nature but if it’s raining for example and I’m inside, I start to multitask, reading the news on the internet while eating my breakfast and barely aware of what I’m eating. It’s a completely different experience even if I say ‘itadakimasu’ first. My thinking mind has been active this week and it’s been hard to sleep so I’ve been doing a body scan in bed to take my focus away from thoughts. It works pretty well but the thinking mind is strong and my toes seem so far away from my head when it’s in full swing :) im enjoying the yoga. I climbed a mountain on Tuesday and my body has been aching from using the different muscles, so even though it’s not exactly a pleasant feeling while doing yoga with an aching body, I know that it is helping to stretch out and can still enjoy it. A bit like training ourselves to think that Stephens’s can be useful. Unpleasant movement can also be enjoyable if I view it as good for me :) I hope I will be able to transfer this to other areas of life. i can’t find the mid way point assessment sheet. I’ve been back through week 4 to look for the link but can’t find it. Could anyone help with that please. thank you with a smile :) -
I use YouTube for free yoga videos and I have an in person class. I searched chair yoga on YouTube to find low impact compatible with my age.

Hi there, I use an app from the android app store called Daily Yoga. They have so many different styles of yoga for different things on the free version and even more if you buy the full version (which for a change isn't mind boggling in price) see the attached image so you know what to look for if you want to find it. I hope this helps, i bloody love it!

What kind of Yoga do you practice? I spent 3 months teaching myself Yoga using YouTube, I started with Adrienne and then found an Ashtanga beginners routine which was perfect for me. I recognised that signing up to my local gym was probably the best way to go after teaching myself for 3 months or so. It's not cheap, but it is an investment into myself and my well being.

Hello All Just started the MBSR course last week and am finishing week 1 getting ready for Week 2. The videos in week 1 were incredibly inspiring and interesting. Thank you for Jon Kabat-Zinn and all the amazing teachers out there who have helped and shared their experience. I am a practitioning yogi and have practised yoga relaxation so am familiar with body scan techniques. Inevitably I still fall asleep myself during the practice! I find it's easier to relax in it whilst lying on the floor, but I'm more prone to sleep here. Doing it sitting in a chair keeps me from sleep, where at least I catch myself moving if I do find sleep coming on! In terms of practice, it's interesting starting at different points in the body. Vipassana meditation generally starts from top of the head and moves down to toes and then back up through the back of the body. With yoga it starts in the right hand. There are a number of different ways to approach it, it seems, and I wonder whether different ways would work at different times, depending on how one is feeling or might need at the time. It is interesting to experiment thus far. ? Thank you all for sharing. ?

How to reduced stress/anxiety
mattpobrien4 replied to Kazshah 's topic in Happiness & Life Advice Forum
Exercising can help to reduce anxiety and stress. Yoga is also an effective way of reducing anxiety and stress levels. Eating healthy foods, such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, proteins, and certain spices, can also help reduce anxiety and stress. -
So I have tried the body scan , sitting ,and yoga Out of the three my favorite is yoga. It’s the one practice that enables me to focus more on the experience and on my body. I can feel how my body stretches and to pay attention without my mind wandering off constantly.

Which positive effects of yoga do you experience?
Debski replied to Yvonne 's topic in Happiness & Life Advice Forum
Am wondering how you're getting on LilyVanily? Did you try any of the beginner's stuff on YouTube? So much to choose from it can be a bit of a minefield. I have wanted to do yoga for years but struggled with it because I'm not very limber and a bit overweight. Even the videos for bigger girls didn't work for me because those girls were wonderfully fit and I'm not. Through endless searches I eventually found some simple stretches and seated yoga that I find absolutely brilliant and have been doing them for a couple of years now. One day, I hope to progress to floor work. Bought a mat and block and tried a while back but it was counter productive trying to run before I can walk. ? The simple stretches I do are great for relaxation before mediation helps me to settle quicker and meditation for longer. -
Meditation, Mindfulness and Mindfulness Meditation
Candy replied to Tine 's topic in Mindfulness & Meditation Forum
I'm reading a book about fertility that swears by it. I recently went to a Kundalini yoga class in Amsterdam and I really enjoyed it. It's more chanting mantras than the asanas, but the whole experience is quite powerful. I left the class feeling a great deal better, and a little blissed out. The book I'm reading suggests Kundalini yoga for pregnant women or those wanting to get pregnant, but I think it's accessible to anyone who wants to clean/heal their energy and just bring some more peace and mindfulness to one's daily life. -
Hello everyone, Today I'm going to share my personal experience of getting over a Breakup💔 I think many of you might be going through the similar processes in your life and you might find it helpful. So, my relationship started and was going very good. The relationship lasted for 2 and half years. I was so sure that he is THE ONE! He was emotionally available, very caring, in short, the MAN OF MY DREAM! I was ver certain that I was going to marry him, as he committed at the very start of the relationship. But then, he moved to another city. We both knew that this was going to happen, and Long Distance Relationships are difficult. But still, we promised to hold on to each other no matter what! But when he actually moved to another city, I noticed change in this behaviour. But I was trying to understand that, because he was in a new city, meeting new friends and exploring everything. But I used to be at home because of the Pandemic, waiting for his ONE REPLY! It was exausting for me, but I was still trying to understand. But after a few months, I told him that I feel ignored and he replied with "I don't know what to do". I asked this many times after that, but his reply was the same. And one day, he denied to reply to my 'I love you' message! That's when I knew that the relationship was about to end. But I still kept convincing myself until he stopped replying me. He used to be online all the time, but didn't reply me, or didn't even see my message. I was broken. I tried talking to my friends, but it didn't help. That's when I took help from ONLINE THERAPY. I was assigned a Qualified Therapist with messaging at any time and live sessions. They suggested me that it was the time to Stand up for myself! And I finally broke up with him. I was surprised that I didn't cry that day. I was actually feeling liberated. It's a very good feeling when you let go sometimes. But still, all my wounds were not healed. I took more help from ONLINE THERAPY. Used as there features like their Worksheets, Sections, Live Sessions, Messages, Journal, Yoga and Activity Plan. My counselor was very Sensitive, caring and able to understand my Problems. She suggested me that the only Love I needed that time, is my OWN LOVE! That's when I started the journey towards Self-Love. And I've never felt this Good before. I'm not exajurating it, but guys, Self-love can change your world completely! Self-love taught me to be compassionate about myself as well as to others. I'm very grateful that I had someone to speak to when I thought that No one could understand me! This is NOT a promotional post, and my own experience. I hope you all found this helpful. Also, don't forget to Love Yourself guys. And I really recommend you to checkout ONLINE THERAPY if you are going through any Mental Health Issue or Problems and more importantly, it's okay to Ask for Help when you need it, it will only benefit you 💕🤗

How to reduced stress/anxiety

Yoga has been a big help for me. I never really liked it cause I'm not as flexible as everyone but the breathing exercise really helped me calm down and just be in the moment. -
Evening all. Thanks for adding me. I'm an Eden Energy Medicine consultant and Reiki Master who practices Energy Medicine Yoga. EMYoga connects to acupressure points as well as neurovascular and lymphatic points on the body to release stuck energies and strengthen meridian flow. I love it. I plan to train in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage in Ibiza in October. Is anyone else here trained in AYM or planning to go? Be great to meet up!
