  1. Am wondering how you're getting on LilyVanily? Did you try any of the beginner's stuff on YouTube? So much to choose from it can be a bit of a minefield. I have wanted to do yoga for years but struggled with it because I'm not very limber and a bit overweight. Even the videos for bigger girls didn't work for me because those girls were wonderfully fit and I'm not. Through endless searches I eventually found some simple stretches and seated yoga that I find absolutely brilliant and have been doing them for a couple of years now. One day, I hope to progress to floor work. Bought a mat and block and tried a while back but it was counter productive trying to run before I can walk. ? The simple stretches I do are great for relaxation before mediation helps me to settle quicker and meditation for longer.
  2. I'm reading a book about fertility that swears by it. I recently went to a Kundalini yoga class in Amsterdam and I really enjoyed it. It's more chanting mantras than the asanas, but the whole experience is quite powerful. I left the class feeling a great deal better, and a little blissed out. The book I'm reading suggests Kundalini yoga for pregnant women or those wanting to get pregnant, but I think it's accessible to anyone who wants to clean/heal their energy and just bring some more peace and mindfulness to one's daily life.
  3. Hello everyone! I am thrilled to discover this community. My name is Inese and I am currently on my journey of building a Happiness coaching practice. When creating a new identity it's super important to have likeminded people, content and support around. So I am looking forward to explore this community better and hopefully get to know some nice people over here A little about me - I am currently based in Spain, near Barcelona. I am a nature lover (sea and mountains please!) who likes to hike and explore new places. I am into art, self-development, learning, journaling and sometimes cooking (when in a happy mood haha). I also have discovered yoga as both meditative and active practice for myself. Random fact - cats and flowers is my quick way to boost my happiness! What about you? Curious to know what are you up to over here and what brings more happiness into your life? Have a nice day/ week ahead! Best, Inese
  4. I'd suggest reading, maybe trying some new recipes for cooking or baking, going out for walks, yoga, joining a course in our Academy ?, and, if you're like me and enjoy organising, I'd also say decluttering and organising spaces in your home. Maybe there is some topic you've been curious about learning or exploring more? A friend of mine started experimenting a bit with planting flowers and vegetables in her kitchen window for example. ? I hope this helps!
  5. Evening all. Thanks for adding me. I'm an Eden Energy Medicine consultant and Reiki Master who practices Energy Medicine Yoga. EMYoga connects to acupressure points as well as neurovascular and lymphatic points on the body to release stuck energies and strengthen meridian flow. I love it. I plan to train in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage in Ibiza in October. Is anyone else here trained in AYM or planning to go? Be great to meet up!
  6. Hi! Im not sure it's a retreat, but a yoga teacher from Australia recommended a place called Flowers and Fire Yoga in Gili Air, Lombok. I've been following them on Instagram for a while and it looks amazing! When will you go? I would love to do the same! ?
  7. What came up for you during the exercises? How do the practices evolve as you get more familiar with them? I really appreciated the yoga exercises I found it was a beautiful way to start the day and connecting my breath with movement added power and presence. I found that it helped me meditate deeper because my mind and body were more awake afterwards. I think sometimes when I was more familiar with the practices I found that I had to apply more attention to remain present and not just make it a habitual movement. Beginners Mind!

  9. I had the same impression. value is key. People are more conscious about their online time and there is already a lot of content out there. We also need to see the different target groups. As there are yoga teachers and other businesses on the one hand side which make out a living and which like to find better reach. On the other hand side, there are students who want to look for classes, improve their yoga or maybe connect with others. So we should look at how we can improve communication here. Usually, the token argument was not the first thing to communicate.
  10. 0.5-liter coffee sounds a lot @Enriqueto. Do you feel ok with it? I used to drink a lot of coffee in the morning, too. I thought that I wouldn't be able to wake up without drinking any. However, for several reasons, I changed that and I'm drinking now green or white tea in the morning. I realized that I have much more energy in the day. Over time I tried out a lot of things to add in my morning routine. But it's difficult to keep up with a time-intensive morning routine, especially as I am having small kids that require my attention. So I finally stuck with waking up consciously (becoming aware of my body and mind) and stretch in the bed, later I also make my bed for the same reason like @gre ?I love to eat 9 soaked almonds in the morning, which was recommended by my yoga teacher. after this, I brush my teeth and take a shower. If I wake up earlier I also do a bit yoga or meditation in the morning.
  11. I love this course and i am thankful that found it - it is Just what i need. I am struggeling concentrating with sitting meditation, but it helps me to know that so do others. I love the yoga sessions the pace is slow and i really Feel the benefit.
  12. Yoga is not only great for the body but also for the mind :) When I come out of a class I feel mentally calm for days. If you've never done it before you could always search a beginner's video on YouTube and start at home... or better still I'd say just jump straight into a class near you, beginner's of course. Hatha yoga is a good start as well as not super dynamic! ENJOY!
  13. I've never done yoga and would like to try. I will look for Yoga with Adrienne to start. Thank you Lizzie :)
  14. Have you tried yoga? It really helps against depression. Big hug
  15. Here's an essential reading guide for fighting racism: And also, an entire Google doc of resources from Ashely Adams, CEO of Black Yoga Magazine. Her website is a gold mine of education and ways to support anti-racism.
  16. Having mostly done sitting practice, I struggled less with feelings of lethargy that accompanied the lying down body scan. I am however noticing a greater awareness of my body sensations than ever which revealed the benefit of the body scan. I am looking forward to week 3 and exploring mindful yoga. Nicole
  17. mindful yoga ! i was fully present in my body feeling every contraction and expansion in my body as it eases from tension into openess or space. i love how this practice opens up unknown parts of yourself.
  18. @ias206 This resonates. Such a nouanced observation. I only practice the yoga sessions of the course and I picked one additional on youtube that is a bit shorter. But I do not experiment. So far I am busy managing my expectations and reactions to the practices. As they are recording I can be sure they didn't change so everything different was somehow brought to the session by me.
  19. Hi Tyrell just wanted to say that you matter, you are special and you are not alone! When I am feeling anxious I like to plan a hiking or an outdoor activity, connecting with nature really bring me peace and root me again! Also I love cooking so making a special dinner just for myself is my way of self care! Always look inside, yoga and meditation, listen to calm music, write a journal and express what are you feeling at the moment! just express yourself and let it all out
  20. A big welcome to happiness Colin, we're happy you found us ✨ It has been a difficult year to say the least, and many have felt it affecting their mental health in different ways. I'm sorry you've been struggling with anxiety lately, and just like Candy already pointed out, you might find our Academy courses helpful, and there are lots of great articles in the magazine about mindfulness for example, or this one about yoga for anxiety. I hope you find some of our resources to be helpful, and also please remember you are not alone in having these feelings. Also have a look around the forum, and please feel free to start a new topic if you want to ask the community for advice or share your own experiences with anxiety - we are in this mess of a year together! ?
  21. Hi, my name is Adam I created the reset button, I’m a mindfulness, meditation and yoga teacher from Wiltshire. I teach classes from Corsham or online so if anyone would like some tuition or maybe just a chat please give me a message or make contact through my website www.resetbutton.co.uk
  22. I found that even though I practice asana yoga regularly, I struggle with being aware of how my body is feeling in different poses. In modern classes, I often feel the urge to push my body past my limits, and it's something I'm working on not doing as much.
  23. I just finished the videos and readings for the first week. I connected with Shauna Shapiro's story, as I've also had spinal fusion. I started practicing yoga shortly after my surgery almost 15 years ago and tend to gravitate toward guided breath meditations or body scans when meditating. One thing that I took away from "The Body Scan Meditation" text is that mindfulness, or awareness, may help to separate the sensation of pain from the thoughts and emotions associated with the pain, leading to a sense of liberation from the pain. As someone who suffers from the effects of chronic pain, I appreciate how Jon put into words how I often feel after completing a body scan. I've tried Kristin Neff's Compassionate Body Scan but not the others, so I'm excited to give them a try this week.
