In its widest sense, nature constitutes all physical things that are not human-made. This means that the entire planet and all of its bio-systems which support life are to be considered part of nature. As the heat energy we derive from the sun is part of the natural order, it – as well as the rest of the physical universe – should properly be considered to be a part of nature. Generally speaking, people will refer to the natural world as living environments – known as biomes – whereas the human-made environment is not. That said, nature can be found everywhere, and you will see numerous examples of it in cities with anything from the presence of foxes to the growth of moss being just two instances of it. Humans are a part of the natural order, but a distinction is often made that separates us, usually so that human activity is not confused with that of the rest of the natural world.
Pets are animals that live with us and share our lives. Even if you don't have pets under your roof – such as a horse that lives in its own stable – they are important to us at an emotional level and can feel like they are a part of the family. Many people will suffer from grief if one of their pets passes away. Indeed, the relationships we form with them can be very complex. Although some animal rights activists argue that pet ownership objectifies them, most people agree that keeping a pet is humane, especially if the creature concerned has been domesticated in a similar manner to the way cats and dogs historically have. That said, few people advocate keeping wild animals as pets these days.
When you hear some positive news or other, it can certainly lighten your mood. If a friend were to say to you that they had just been promoted or that they had been successful in some other area of life, then the chances are that you will be pleased, too. This is because sharing information that is up to date, or newsworthy to put it another way, is an important aspect of human beings' social culture.
