Candy 578 Posted May 14, 2019 I recently read a magazine article about the power of kindness, and 5 reasons to share kindness. I really resonated with that article and thought I would share it here. Five reasons to be kind: 1. Kindness is contagious Psychologists refer to that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you experience acts of kindness as 'moral elevation' which kind of explains why it's catchy. 2. Kindness helps create identity Give up your seat to a stranger, or invite a struggling friend for coffee. Kindness makes us feel good and reinforces our sense of identity, which in turn makes us proud of who we are. 3. Empathy is instinctive. Cheering someone up with kindness makes us feel good too. We're putting something right and sharing in their joy and relief. 4. Kindness is attractive 5. Kindness creates connection Most importantly, kindness is FREE! It costs absolutely nothing to make someone's day or put a smile on someone's face. They might need it more than we'll ever know. So please, sprinkle kindness wherever you go
Calvin77 765 Posted May 14, 2019 I started to be more aware of this and totally agree. Kindness is one of the simplest and nicest ways you can make someone – and yourself – feel better! And it's also contagious like you say. I was in this coffee chain called Pret a Manger the other day and they have this thing called 'Pret kindness', which I didn't know about. I was chatting to my server, asking about how he was doing, and then, he let me have my coffee for free :) They try to encourage kindness and I thought that was pretty amazing for a company to give away free stuff like that. Certainly put a smile on my face :)
