Bikram Yoga was established in 2003 as the very first hot yoga studio in Spain. Bikram yoga is situated in Barcelona and Madrid and offers more than 120 yoga and inferno hot pilates classes a week. Bikram yoga is an energising 90-minute physical workout that improves strength, balance and flexibility while increasing mental clarity and concentration.
Created by Bikram Choudhury, the Bikram Yoga Barcelona centre is the only one certified by him. Bikram Yoga offers personalised attention and compassionate learning guided by experts who encourage students to have fun during their practice.
Each Bikram yoga session is done with 26 postures, including two breathing exercises, and is practised in a room with a temperature of 40-42ºC. Bikram yoga is known as the original hot yoga and is suitable for all ages and levels. It is based on hundreds of years of tradition that can't be imitated by simply adding heat to a yoga class. The heat in a Bikram yoga class, combined with the sequence of postures allows the muscles to warm and be worked more deeply in a shorter period, which creates quick results.
Bikram yoga is a challenge, despite the individual's physical form. Over time, students will learn how to focus their mind and control their breathing, taking them to the balance between hard work and harmony. As this relaxation improves, students will realise the true meaning of yoga: the union of body, mind, and spirit.
Bikram Yoga offers an unbeatable teacher development programme, distinguishing the school from others. Lucia Kelley, who has been practising Bikram Yoga for more than 21 years, has personally trained more than 75% of Bikram Yoga teachers in Spain.
